CVMA and DAVMS have joined a number of other organizations in Colorado to form the Coalition for Living Safely with Dogs, a group developed to educate dog owners and the general public on how to live safely with dogs and to offer assistance to municipalities that are establishing new or more effective dangerous dog laws. Please click on the link above to visit the CLSD Web site.
Member organizations of the Coalition include:
• All Breed Rescue Network
• Animal Assistance Foundation
• Colorado Association of Animal Control Officers
• Colorado Association of Certified Veterinary Technicians

On March 8, 2006, the Coalition sponsored a forum, in cooperation with the University of Denver and the Animal Assistance Foundation, with the goal of initiating a broad-based dialogue to affect municipal rule-making related to dangerous dogs. The forum was an initial step in working on a comprehensive community approach to this critical and complex issue. Click here (PDF) for a complete report of the March 8, 2006, forum proceedings.
On February 26, 2009, the Coalition held its Second Forum on "Changing Human-Animal Behaviors to Create Safer Communities: Data, Policies, and Programs" at the University of Denver. For information on the Second Forum and Dog-Bite Survey Data, click here.
The Coalition has developed a comprehensive set of FAQs, tips and guidelines, including (each of the following links are PDFs):
