You Belong in CVMA!

CVMA is a proactive group of more than 2,200 professionals representing each setting of veterinary medicine – clinical practice, public health, academe, industry, and military. The not-for-profit organization is governed by a Board of Directors composed of elected volunteer representatives from every region of the state.

CVMA works to enhance animal health and welfare and the status of the veterinary profession through advocacy, education and increased public awareness of the value of veterinary medicine. The organization also provides information resources to consumers on a range of animal health topics and links animal owners to veterinarians through a free referral service. Association members conduct programs in schools to affirm the human/animal bond and respond to questions about animal health and welfare. CVMA provides its members with continuing education programs and information resources to foster high standards of veterinary medical care and serves as the collective voice of Colorado veterinarians in communications with legislators, media and the public.

CVMA Membership Benefits & Services

Benefits

CVMA members are like you. Working hard. Acquiring knowledge and new techniques. Interested in getting acquainted with colleagues. Committed to excellence. Determined to work together to advance the science and art of veterinary medicine.

Let CVMA work for you! Your modest dues investment pays big dividends, allowing you to benefit from:

Interaction – Expand your network. Discuss your concerns with peers, share your successes, and expand your circle of colleagues. Member meetings are held in 18 districts throughout the state, and the annual convention in September provides a lively forum for building and renewing your professional relationships.

Professional Development – CVMA offers outstanding opportunities for continuing education to keep you abreast of scientific developments and to help you manage your practice efficiently and effectively. Look to CVMA for top-notch speakers who share their expertise during courses at the annual convention and at special seminars and webinars. As a member, you qualify for reduced registration rates.

Resources – CVMA members receive the award-winning Voice newsletter four times a year to keep you up-to-date on news about the association and veterinary medicine in Colorado, regular eNews Digests to provide instant access to important news affecting you and your patients, and a password for access to everything contained on the CVMA website. The print version of the membership directory is distributed free to members, and is available as a searchable database on the website. Plus, members get referrals when prospective clients call the CVMA office needing specialists, and listings of job opportunities and relief veterinarians on the web. Members also have access to an array of money-saving programs like insurance plans and financial planning, and to practice management tools like the model employee manual, which is available electronically to allow customization for your unique circumstances.

Participation – By serving on a committee, commission, or the governing board, you help guide CVMA in fulfilling its mission and contribute to the vitality of the profession. You and your practice will benefit too as you interact with other professionals and develop dynamic leadership skills.

Representation – CVMA is the collective voice for members in the professional, public, and state government arenas. The association maintains strong relationships with the State Board of Veterinary Medicine, AVMA, state and provincial VMAs, and organizations with allied interests. CVMA strives to expand the public’s understanding of and appreciation for veterinary medicine through initiatives such as the Veterinary Strategic Alliance and the Colorado’s Animal Heroes awards program. Members are kept informed of the latest legislative and regulatory news, and CVMA’s lobbying program is instrumental in representing and protecting the interests of veterinarians on matters such as the three-year Rabies vaccine law, the confidentiality of veterinary medical records, and modifications to the Veterinary Practice Act.

Recognition – Each year, CVMA proudly recognizes the achievement of its members by presenting prestigious awards: Veterinarian of the Year, Distinguished Service, Rising Star, and Outstanding Faculty Member. You’ll be enriched and inspired by their contributions to the profession.
